鲁雄教授主要围绕提高植入体表面组织再生与结合能力的关键基础科学问题,在国内率先开展生物材料基因组研究,利用基于材料基因组的高通量计算、高通量实验、大数据分析的新方法和多学科交叉的新理念,从表面物理、表面化学和表面拓扑等多角度系统深入研究植入体表面组织再生机理,建立相关问题的理论模型;发展多种表面改性与修饰技术,赋予植入体表面多重生物功能性,调控植入体表面的生物应答,从而促进组织再生与修复,取得了一批有理论意义和应用价值的原创性成果。先后参与撰写中国科学院与中国工程院《材料基因组计划咨询报告-生物材料专项》,承担863项目《基于材料基因工程的高通量设计、制备与表征技术》,国家重点研发计划《基于材料基因工程的组织诱导性骨和软骨修复材料研制》,广东省重点领域研发计划资助《新材料高通量实验平台》等生物材料基因组相关研究工作。
鲁雄教授研究领域主要涉及骨/软骨修复,组织修复,抗炎抗氧化以及多功能生物医用水凝胶的设计与应用。在Nature Communications, Biomaterials, ACS Nano, Advanced Functional Materials, Chemistry of Materials, Small,等国际著名期刊上共发表三大检索收录论文180余篇。
