长期从事生物医用材料的研究，在水凝胶组织工程支架材料、响应性智能水凝胶、高强度水凝胶、可生物降解聚酯及其复合材料等的合成和应用研究等方面有丰富的经验积累。主持科研课题11项，其中国家级项目2项，省部级项目4项。发表SCI论文40余篇，获批中国发明专利10项，其中第一完成人授权中国发明专利4项，发明专利技术转化2项,以第二完成人获得湖北省技术发明奖二等奖1项。
